Advice for Staying in Berkeley
Berkeley is quite a special place. It is both a place that helped invent the atomic bomb, and also one of the pioneering sites of the Vietnam War protests. If you are looking for a place that is full of the hippie side of the story of America, Berkeley is definitely the place. If you are staying in Berkeley, make sure that you know what you want to do first. If you want to visit the campus, go early and try to get a place on northside if you want peace and quiet, and get a place on the west side near University and Shattuck if you want a cheaper place to stay. Generally Berkeley is a walkable city, and you might be exhausted at the end of the day, so you might want to stay at a place that is near the campus. You should always take precautions at night in Berkeley, and don’t walk in places that don’t have a lot of people around for your own safety reasons. Use common sense, and you’ll be fine visiting Berkeley.
